short tail.”
I also brought in import birds. All the birds I used to get
where I am today had faults but you have to be patient. Sometimes
you keep birds with minor faults you think won’t produce anything
special and then you get surprised. Every bird that I’ve used from
day one had it’s purpose moving to where my birds are today.
It takes time – it doesn’t happen in the first or second breed-
ing season but you will see progress being made each time you put
your birds together and see things coming together.
Another point is loft blindness. Get your birds to the shows as
often as possible to compare yours with all the birds out there. Lis-
ten to the judges – they can give you helpful insight on your birds
as to where you need to make improvements. It’s good to hear
encouragement on your birds that you are heading in the right di-
rection. Remember there is no perfect bird only slight faults; keep
working on your birds. With patience and time you will get that
show winner you are looking for!!•
