64 – Purebred PIGEON
This is Ed Bachmann in his treasure room in Pontiac,
Michigan a couple of years ago. Ed was my friend and
fellow Master Breeder of Jacobins. He changed the world
of Jacobins worldwide literally, providing championship
quality birds far and wide. He traveled the world and never
missed a show if Jacobins were involved.
Ed was awarded the Master Breeder Emeritus
recognition for his lifetime comittment to the promoting,
breeding and exhibiting of Jacobin Pigeons.
Ed was 88 years old when he died.

I am the Show Secretary for both the White Rose and the Read-
ing Pigeon Association in Pennsylvania. I would like to try and keep
you informed as well I can with that is going on for this year.
As i write this its April 23th, and we have all been told to stay
home as much as we can and to wear masks. There is starting to be
some talk on opening up parts of the states in order to get some peo-
ple back to work. How this will affect us in the long run with shows,
only time can tell.
The first show we have planned is the Reading Young Bird Show
on Sunday October 4th at the Birks County 4H center in Leesport. We
usually have around 350 young birds shown, and its a good warm up
for later shows and it gets people out to visit. Any club is welcome to
show with us.
The next show we have up is the White Rose show on Sunday
November 15 at the Emigsville Fire Company in Emigsville. Any clubs
or individuals that wish to show are always welcome to get your birds
out to be seen.
Our next show will be the big show of the Reading Club at the
Wyndham Resort (formerly the Host) in Lancaster, PA. This show will
be a WEEK LATER then our normal date: January 14th through the
17th of 2021 with set up on the evening of the 13th. We will again be
having the show up in the hotel as it made everyone very happy in
2020 and the hotel liked seeing happy people spending money!
Last year was the first time we had a show in the hotel in 10
years, and we weren’t sure how it was gong to work out but as I said,
our exhibitors seemed to really enjoy the space and the proximity
to the hotel facilities and their rooms. Eric Kooker and I have talked
about what we can do for next year. For the men and woman or the
ASRs and the GBHs we WILL do better with your show spaces.
Again we don’t know what will happen down the road but we are
planing on having shows!
On a rambling note the NPA National will be held in Louisville.,
I know that the National is very important to our breeds. This is a
very different year – we have people that might not have worked in
quite a while or don’t have a job to work at. While i am putting out
there are specialty clubs, you have members that might not make it
to the National or the big shows – having needs that are a bit more
important – show them some love and put a meet or a sectional out
in places that you normally don’t and let them share in the support of
the club. Any show would love having your support.
On another note the American Lahore Club has formed again.
They will be showing at the National Young Bird Show and of course
the National is right in the heart of Lahore country. I have heard talk
of big numbers, and a lot of exhibitors. I had Lahores before and
they are nice birds – well the Young Bird show and the National are
a great place to check them out. Pick up two (you know you want to)!
Check out the club at AmericanLahore
club.comto check them out
and to make contact.
Keep doing all we can to stay safe, and hope we can get back to
some shows. Stay with us on the web sites to check for updates. You
can access both clubs from the NPA CLUBS site. •
