6 – Purebred PIGEON
Fromthe Editor
Thanks to Leonard Kuzminski for being the driving force behind
this Old German Owl feature. It’s wonderful to see this breed revived
from the point of just two entries at the NYBS in 2012 to 184 entries
this past year. As you read the articles, you can sense the interest and
excitement these fanciers feel for their birds and the hobby.
Our upcoming feature will be on Pigeons in War. As you all know,
pigeons have been used as messengers since ancient Egyptian times,
frequently during periods of combat. I hope you will join me in hon-
oring their role by participating in this feature. If you have any family
members or friends who took part in the pigeon corps anywhere in the
world, I hope you will write up their story - no matter how brief - and
send it in. Photos would be greatly appreciated as well.
Hope you all are doing well during this
strange time and you’ve got loads of baby
birds in the loft. And as always...
Hope you enjoy the issue!

German Monks in my article in the March/April issue. Again, I apologize for
any confusion or embarrassment (other than to me) this may have caused
